I haven't written in a while. Lots of things happening.
I have been trying to get the first three chapters of my MRP ready to send to my supervisor and I keep re-editing and re-sending to Anne.
Amanda has arrived from Newmarket to teach grades 6 and 7. I have been spending a lot of time with her. We have gone to Mary's a few times. We have played bingo and ate goose ('nirlih') with beaks and feet. It was pretty good. She was in a bit of shock I think but she tried it.
I have been berry picking a few more times. I have the infamous blackberries to take back to Mom at Christmas.
Jeremie and I had caribou ribs last weekend. He found them in his freezer leftoever from Dave. They were very good. I didn't realize how much I missed caribou. We then went to...wait for it...the bar afterwards to play pool. I swore I never would go but we had a great time. It was nice to play pool. I haven't played in a while.
School is going well. I still enjoy going to work each and every day. I feel great but took this week off from badminton and the gym. Not sure why. Just felt like it. It's nice to have options.
I have gone on many long walks. The picture above was from last weekend. Alison (from Cape Breton), Amanda, and I went for a walk to the inukshuk on Hudson Bay. That was the first day that we could feel Winter in the air. Quite a chill but with the sun shining, it was well worth the couple of hours outside and later on visiting other friends.
Mary gave me some caribou tonight when Amanda and I went by. It is a roast. I am planning on cooking it tomorrow night. We will do it at Jeremie's as he has the biggest kitchen. I am inviting Amanda and Noel as well. It should be a good night.
Saturday is Girls Night at Amanda's. We are making pizzas and watching movies. It will be Amanda, me, Mary, Margot, and Alison. I am so social here. It makes me laugh.
Now to the title of the post...the weather here has been very weird. Lots of wind and rain. The boots I got from Caroline have sure been put to good use. Cloudy one minute and not so cloudy the next. I was teaching Math yesterday and then one of my students screamed and ran to our big window in the classroom. It had started to snow. Big, wet flakes that didn't collect on the ground. We watched in awe for about ten minutes and then then it was sunny. The students talked about it for a long while after. It was too early. How would it affect the Fall goose hunt? Needless to say, it caused quite a stir.
Life is still good in Kuujjuaraapik. Good people. Good food. Good times.
